If you take a multivitamin, look at the label. Does it contain any ingredients that are more than the RDA (recommended daily allowances)? How about vitamin D? Do you take more than 600 IU per day? And what about resveratrol, ubiquinol, or Meriva® (the new highly absorbable form of turmeric)? If you take any of these nutrients to protect your health, you may not be able to buy them before long.
Your freedom to buy high-potency nutrients is about to become a thing of the past.
I wish I were exaggerating, but I’m not.
The simple, unadulterated truth is that the FDA has proposed new rules that, if passed, will allow them to ban these and many other supplements.
Say goodbye to some of the latest bone preservation formulas. These guidelines will ban the strontium they contain that protects bones. The FDA’s new guidelines will effectively ban any nutrient they can define as being “new” – introduced after October 15, 1994. This includes modified citrus pectin, a natural chelation ingredient that removes heavy metals and environmental contaminants, the aforementioned nutrients, and even high potency vitamin C tablets.
You won’t have access to these and scores of other nutrients even though they are safer than acetaminophen. Tylenol (acetaminophen) causes 450 deaths from Acute Liver Failure each year. But acetaminophen isn’t the only drug that causes problems. In six months in 2007 alone, there were 482,154 adverse reactions from prescription drugs. These drugs kill over 100,000 people every year.

But according to the American Association of Poison Control Centers, there isn’t even one death a year from vitamins.
To remain on the market, the FDA has issued guidelines that are impossible for supplement companies to meet. For instance, it forces them to conduct one-year long animal studies using 1,000 times the typical dose of a nutrient. And each company that wants to sell the same nutrient would have to conduct separate studies. This is not only ridiculous, it’s ridiculously expensive. Each ingredient tested would cost from $100,000 to $200,000. Any ingredients that make it through the rigorous application process would cost a fortune.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a lot more involved. You can read the details at http://www.advancedbionutritionals.com/Special-Offers/FDA-letter-1.htm.
The good news is you can stop these regulations from going into effect. We have until December 1, 2011 to tell our representatives in Congress to pressure the FDA to kill these new guidelines. Here’s how you can do it. First, go to www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml. On this website you can look up the phone numbers of your U.S. Senators and your Representative in the House. Call them! Tell them how you feel. Please, do it right now! Don't wait. The deadline is coming fast and they need to hear from you today!
Second, send this to all of your friends who take supplements and ask them to do the same thing. This is so important it could mean life or death for millions of people. It could mean life or death for you! Please, do this right now!
