Chemotherapy kills cancer cells. The problem is it also kills healthy cells. Scientists have been looking for drugs that destroy cancer and leave healthy cells alone, but so far they’ve failed. No wonder. They’ve been looking in the wrong places.
The non-toxic cancer-fighting solution may be in your grocery store. We’ve known for years that blueberries and raspberries contain chemicals that have anti-cancer properties. Now, the folks at Texas AgriLife Research have found two more in peaches and plums.
This group of researchers found that the antioxidants and phytonutrients in plums either match or exceed those in blueberries. Scientists have thought for years that blueberries were the most beneficial anti-cancer fruit. So this is quite a finding.
For this study, they compared various strengths of peach and plum extracts and their impact on two types of breast cancer cells. One was the most aggressive type. All of the extracts worked better than chemotherapy drugs. They killed both types of cancer cells and left normal cells alone.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible to get these extracts at this time, and it’s not practical to stuff yourself with peaches, plums, and raspberries. But you may want to include them in your cancer-fighting diet.
In case you want to be more specific, look for Rich Lady peaches and Black Splendor plums. These were the varieties used in this study. It may be time to think about making some sugar-free jams to enjoy in the winter. And be sure to put a few stone fruits in your shopping basket during these summer months when all fruits are most plentiful.
